Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal & Trek to Chisapani (2,165 meters)

Your adventure begins with an early morning private vehicle transfer from Kathmandu to Sundarijal, located about an hour’s drive away. This charming village marks the gateway to Shivapuri National Park, where your trek officially commences. The trail ascends through lush rhododendron and oak forests, cascading waterfalls, and traditional Tamang villages. You’ll pass through Mulkharka, a quaint hillside settlement, and continue along forested ridges that offer scenic views of the Kathmandu Valley below. After approximately 5 hours of trekking, you’ll arrive at Chisapani, a serene hilltop village known for its crisp air and sweeping views of distant Himalayan peaks. Overnight stay at a local mountain lodge.

Day 02: Trek from Chisapani to Kutumsang (2,470 meters)

After a peaceful night in Chisapani, begin your trek with a descent through dense woodlands and peaceful farmlands. Cross through picturesque settlements such as Gul Bhanjyang and Pati Bhanjyang, where you can observe the traditional lifestyles of the hill communities.
The path gradually climbs toward Kutumsang, a lovely village situated amidst terraced fields and surrounded by forests. The trail provides occasional glimpses of snow-clad peaks, including sections of the Langtang Himalayan range. Expect to walk for around 5 to 6 hours today. Overnight accommodation at a comfortable lodge.

Day 03: Trek from Kutumsang to Tharepati (3,690 meters)

Today’s journey takes you deeper into the high-altitude landscapes of Helambu. Departing from Kutumsang, the trail ascends steadily through alpine forests filled with fir and rhododendron. This region is more remote and less traveled, offering a sense of tranquility and seclusion.
You’ll arrive at Tharepati, one of the highest points on the Helambu trail, after about 5 hours of trekking. From here, the views are nothing short of spectacular, offering panoramic glimpses of Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, and even Gauri Shankar on clear days. Overnight stay at a cozy mountain lodge in Tharepati.

Day 04: Trek from Tharepati to Tarke Ghyang (2,600 meters)

After soaking in the mountain vistas at sunrise, begin your descent through forested trails that lead toward the Sherpa village of Tarke Ghyang. The trail meanders through beautiful alpine vegetation and passes by mani walls and chortens that reflect the spiritual heart of the Helambu region. Tarke Ghyang is rich in Buddhist heritage, with historic monasteries and friendly locals offering a deep dive into Sherpa culture. The walk today is shorter, lasting about 4 hours, allowing you time to explore the village and interact with the local community. Overnight in a traditional lodge with Sherpa hospitality.

Day 05: Trek to Sermanthang (2,621 meters) and Drive Back to Kathmandu

Your final day on the trail begins with a scenic walk to Sermanthang, another culturally vibrant village perched amid beautiful landscapes. Along the way, pass through Ghangyul and other settlements adorned with fluttering prayer flags and ancient monasteries. The easy-paced trail allows for one last chance to admire the tranquil beauty of the Helambu hills.
